Most Portland electricians will not put a number on a page before they have seen your house. For the five jobs below, we do. These are our own prices, for the work described next to each one. They are not a range and they are not a teaser rate meant to get a truck in the driveway. Five jobs, five real prices
What these jobs actually cost.
Each figure covers the scope written next to it. If your house has something unusual behind the wall, we will tell you before we start, not after.
- Electrical panel change
- $3,495
- Remove and dispose of your existing panel, install a new one matching your current service size.
- Electrical service upgrade
- $6,995
- Coordinate with the power company, rebuild the service drop and meter, replace the panel to match the new incoming service size.
- Hot tub electrical
- $3,295
- A 50 amp 240 volt breaker, a disconnect, and the whip from the disconnect to the hot tub. Trenching to get the whip to the tub is by others.
- EV charger installation
- $1,495
- A 50 amp 240 volt circuit up to 15 feet from the panel, and a receptacle or final connection to the charger you provide.
- Knob and tube abatement
- $3,495
- Base price per attic or crawl space area. Disconnect and remove the existing knob and tube, install new wiring and junction boxes.

What each price does not include.
Knob and tube abatement is a base price
The $3,495 figure covers disconnecting and removing the existing knob and tube and installing new wiring and junction boxes for one attic or crawl space area. Wiring those junction boxes on to the actual devices, switches and lighting is additional. If there is insulation already laid over the old wiring, it should come out first.
Hot tub electrical does not include trenching
The $3,295 figure covers the breaker, the disconnect, and the whip from the disconnect to the tub. Getting a trench dug so that whip can reach the tub is by others.
A panel change is not a service upgrade
A panel change replaces the panel itself and matches the service size you already have. A service upgrade is a bigger job: the incoming service is too small, so it means coordinating with the power company, rebuilding the drop and the meter, and putting in a panel sized to the new service. We will tell you which one your house actually needs.
Everything else
Rewiring, repairs, lighting, home electrical installations, inspections, and commercial and industrial work do not have a flat rate published, because the scope varies too much house to house. Estimates for these are typically ready within one to two weeks. See the full services list.
