What a Portland outage actually costs you
St. Johns loses power the same way the rest of Portland does, a windstorm off the Columbia, an ice snap, a line down somewhere upstream, and there's rarely any warning about how long it'll last. A sump pump that stops running floods a basement. A freezer that sits dark for a day loses everything in it. Sensitive electronics, the router, the furnace control board, a home office setup, don't always come back cleanly once the power does.
None of that is really about comfort, though comfort matters too when a Portland winter takes the heat out along with the lights. Why the dealer badge is the part that matters
Anyone can bolt a generator to a slab. What we offer as an authorized Generac dealer is different: the whole-house or portable unit, the automatic transfer switch, the fuel line, and any electrical system work the install needs behind it, all coming from the same shop, on the same account, with Generac's own parts and warranty behind it rather than a middleman's.
The work starts with an assessment of what your panel and service can actually support, since a generator installation is often an electrical upgrade project as much as it is a generator project. From there it's the transfer switch, whether automatic for a whole-house system or the simpler setup a portable needs, the fuel line run to the unit, and the wiring tied back into your panel so the switchover happens the way it's supposed to. We're licensed, bonded and insured under Oregon CCB #103824, electrical contractor #26-887C, and every install closes with a walkthrough and a test run before we call it done.

After the install, and how you know it's still ready
A generator that only gets tested during an actual outage is a generator you're finding out about at the worst possible time. We handle generator maintenance and repairs for the systems we install and for units another company put in, and a unit that skips its regular exercise cycle, that hesitates or fails to transfer when it should, or that's due a service visit is worth a call before the next storm rather than after it.
